The Foundation for Contemporary and Modern Visual Arts (FCMVA) is a non-profit organization set up primarily to document contemporary and modern Nigerian art, to the end of helping to uplift Nigerian art.
The Art foundation is intended to build up support for contemporary Nigerian art, this support includes helping visual artists to attract and retain global relevance within their sphere of practice, locating and nurturing artistic talents by celebrating deserving artists, highlighting and showcasing art collections that would otherwise have been hidden from the public, etc. The day-to-day activities and core competence of the foundation are geared towards promoting and strengthening the visual arts sector, hence, the importance behind each and every project we embark upon at the Foundation is to document and support our cultural legacy as a collective community.
At the Foundation for Contemporary and Modern Visual Arts, we aspire to develop inspiring art related projects and programmes with and for the public realm to bring creative insight and develop awareness within our contemporary culture. Though not a profit-oriented concern, our diverse projects vary in the medium that complement the efforts designed into achieving them; i.e. they range from completely self-funded initiatives to publicly subsidized projects. Each undertaking is conceived and designed based on its fiscal opportunity to autonomously source for funds to help achieve the project aims.
